Malaysia Coin in education 2003

Bank Negara Malaysia is issuing the second Endangered Species Series under the Coins In Education (CIE) Program. The second series called 'Bird Series' carrys the theme of the Endangered Birds. This series is issued following the success of the first Endangered Species Series themed 'Land Animals'.
Similar to the 2003 Land Animal Series, the Bird Series also comprises of 12 issues representing 12 selected endangered bird species and will be issued monthly starting January 2005. The Straw-headed Bulbul will be the first bird that would be featured in the Bird Series. The full list of the 12 endangered bird species in the series is as shown in attachment I.
The coins are made of nordic gold alloy with face value of 25 sen and sold at RM5 each. The coins are packed in attractive and colourful coin cards, complete with information of the respective bird species.
