Tamar and Georgi - AE fals

Tamar (1184-1213); Tamar with Giorgi (see note)

AE 17 mm, 4.46 grms; type with two letters within the obverse, two within the reverse: There are circular legends in Georgian outside the heart-shaped ornaments on both sides. (Bennett 149 Rare)

NOTE : There were three Giorgis in Tamar’s life. One was her father, Giorgi III, one was her husband, a Russian prince named Yuri, but called Giorgi in Georgian, and one was her son, Giorgi IV Lasha. According to Bennett, we don’t know which one is on this particular type.
