ROMAN.Macrianus Usurper AD 260-261.Billon Antoninianus. Mint of ANTIOCH. ( 4.19g, 23.2mm, 8h )
IMP C FVL MACRIANVS P F AVG, bust right of Macrianus wearing radiate crown.
Reverse. Incuse image: Jupiter enthorned holding patera in right hand and sceptre in left, eagle in front , legend IOVI CONSERVATORI.
Ref: For normal strike RIC V.6.
Good very fine, toned.
This coin is an extremely rare kind of mint error where a brockage occurs with just the incuse side indicating that the reverse coin turned over. Most brockages encountered are created with the identical die on both sides ( either an obverse or reverse striking).
Ex David Sellwood collection.
