Ag.610 one kori
ST.IND.0021
The Kori was the currency of the Kutch state till 1948. From 1858 to 1947, coins of Kutch carried the name of the local ruler on the front, and the British monarch at the back. Kutch was one of the few kingdoms anywhere to have issued coins in the name of Edward VIII - who was the British King and the Emperor of India for less than 1 year, before his abdication. In 1947, the last coin issued by the state was the Jai Hind Kori - which carried the words 'Jai Hind' - an Indian freedom slogan, on the reverse.
