Septimius Severus. AR denarius, Emesa, 194 CE; 17.5mm, 2.86g, 4h. BMCRE 357 (and 357 note) var (with FORTVN)., RIC 383 var (same)., RSC 175a var (same). Obv: IMP CAE L SEP SEV PERT AVG COS II; head laureate r. Rx: FORTV – R–EDVC; Hilaritas standing l., holding palm and cornucopia. Very rare, 1 in Reka Devnia with same reverse legend but Fortuna seated; VF.

This variant, with both FORTV rather than FORTVN and Hilaritas standing (possibly intended to be Fortuna but with attributes of Hilaritas), is unlisted in the major references. Variant not in the Barry Murphy Collection.
