Medal commemorates the Death of King George III, 29th Jan. 1820.

Lettering:
GEORGE III ASCENDED THE BRITISH THRONE OCT. 25. 1760.
Engraver: Thomas Wyon
Reverse:
the reverse represents an allegory illustrating the biblical passage from Matthew 25:21 ‘Enter thou into the Joy of thy Lord’ from the Parable of the Talents. An image of a classically garbed crowd of onlookers observing an ascent into heaven in a fiery chariot of a figure – identified in the Royal Collection Trust catalogue entry as the prophet Elijah, but which the crown on the passenger’s head surely suggests is the king himself.
Lettering around and at the bottom.
Lettering around:
ENTER THOU INTO THE JOY OF THY LORD
DIED JAN. 29. 1820
