Reverse: Dioscuri riding r., Flag cape., ROMA in raised letters in exergue.
Weight: 3.99 gm
Reference: Crawford 53/2
Provenance: Ebay, ex Ibercoin 12, Lot 3. Feb, 2013
This is a true prototype of group 5. The obverse style is has a charming face, and the reverse ROMA is in a fully exergual frame. This is an anonymous sibling to RRC 88/2, the spear head symbol series. Little actual wear but the reverse is a little off-center and there are a few minor dings. Very Fine.
Classified as C3 in "A New Arrangement for RRC 53/2" Pierluigi Debernardi and Steve Brinkman. Revue Numismatique 2018, pp. 193-239.
Collection : Fully Anonymous Early Roman Silver of the denarius system
