Roman Empire, Claudius II (268-270), Antoninianus, Rome mint, 1st emission, ? officina.
Obverse: IMP C CLAVDIVS AVG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind;
Reverse: IOVI VI-CTORI (sic), Jupiter standing left, head right, holding long sceptre in right hand and thunderbolt in left hand;
Notes: This coin features a very unusual error: the legend IOVI VICTORI has been paired with a depiction that is appropriate only for IOVI STATORI! This error is known from at least four reverse dies, so it can't be the result of a single engraver not being an expert in his job - maybe at the time the Rome mint was experimenting with new types? It's certainly official. It's also worth noting that the opposite error (IOVI STATORI with Jupiter 1) does not appear to exist.
