munzen antike bis romische imperial und republik rome virtvs avgvsti

Probus (276-282 AD) Antoninian, Rome

Rare and desirable reverse type. RIC V.2 desribes incorrectly the figure on the reverse as 'soldier' however one can clearly see a bare breast of the figure - which is the attribute of the amazons. The personnification of Virtvs was often depicted as an amazon in the Roman coinage. Virtually as struck with full silvering and mint luster. Exceedingly rare in such an exceptional state of preservation!

Obverse: IMP C M AVR PROBVS P F AVG
