DESCRIPTION
Dark, cold and whipped by supersonic winds, ice giant Neptune is the eighth and most distant planet in our solar system. Its atmosphere is partially made of methane which gives Neptune this fantastic blue colour. Astronomers gave this planet the name of the Roman God of the sea due to its bluish-ocean-like hue.
As well as on the coin, he is often shown to be an older tall man with a long white beard. Neptune is translated from Latin as “moist”. Therefore, the coin depicts Neptune with a three-pronged fisherman’s spear in his arms. He is sitting on a big snail chariot pulled by whales, horses, or seahorses. Antique-finished and with digital printing, this coin is another great piece from the “Planets and Gods” series!
The reverse of the coin features the classic figure of the god Neptune, with a three-pronged fisherman’s spear in his arms. He is sitting on a big snail chariot pulled by whales, horses, and seahorses. On the left of the reverse, the inscription: “NEPTUNE” – the name of the coin. The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: “ELIZABETH II” – the name of the Queen, “3000 FRANCS CFA” – the face value, “2021” – the year of issue and “REPUBLIC OF CAMEROON” – the issuing country.
