Admiral Dewey U.S.N. medal circa 1903

In 1898, then Commodore Dewey, led the U.S. Asiatic Squadron in the Battle of Manila Bay, Philippines against the Spanish Pacific fleet. His decisive victory led the way for U.S. victory in the Spanish-American War. In 1903 he was promoted to Admiral of the Navy. Thus, Soley most likely produced this medal as a memento of his 1903 ascension.
