The standard weight of this coin was 2/33 troy ounce or 29.1 grains.

It is not yet confirmed or agreed at which point silver four pences ceased to be struck for circulation in Britain before their reintroduction in 1836. However, it is widely accepted that this type was struck only for the Maundy Ceremony in a prooflike finish.
