AETERNIT AVG

Antoninianus

Early 271

–/–//– - Cyzicus, IInd emission

Weight: 3,5 G

RIC TEMP – (not noticed)

IMPORTANT NOTE: In the BN/R. of S. Estiot : no AETERNIT AVG in BnF, only n°42-46 of the first issue of Rome but with different obverses with long legend (IMP C L DOM ...). MIR -. In RIC. TEMP nr 2829.1 there is a coin looks like this exemplar on reverse but in opinion of  user Arendil: „the reverse is very different: the Sol isn't fine, his right hand cut the legend, he is too small”. Almost same obverse legend and a • below the bust, has : RIC. TEMP 2872/6, but with different reverse. Probably this coin was struck with a obverse die done by the same engraver”.

In mail from Arendil he wrote: „ So, your coin is the only known copy of the RIC 44 [without photo] which attests the existence of the RIC 44 (C. 6). With the style and the • below the bust, it's sure that your coin was struck in Cyzicus mint. The question is : RIC 44 is false, the • wasn't saw or it's really an unpublished for Cyzicus ? I think the • wasn't saw on the only copy used do write RIC 44 description and in truth, the RIC 44 should have listed for Cyzicus with • below bust”.

ARENDIL: Thank you very much for your kindness and competent opinion !!!
