Notes: The reverse design recalls the Ludi Apollinares, converted into a permanent festival as a result of the proposal of the moneyer's ancestor: C. Calpurnius Piso, Praetor 211 B.C. (Livy XXVI, 23,3). Crawford estimates as many as 864 obverse dies and 1080 reverse dies of this type with a very complex system of control-marks!
