The reverse design, created by Aleysha Howarth, features five bats positioned around the Chinese character for “Fu,” meaning prosperity. According to a press release, the bats symbolize the “Five Blessings” in Chinese culture, which include “longevity, wealth, health and composure, virtue, and the desire to die a natural death in old age.”
Mingled with the bats are motifs depicting peaches and peonies, which have there own symbolic associations. The peaches represent longevity and immortality, while the peonies stand for royalty, virtue, wealth, and honor. The bottom of the design features the inscriptions FIVE BLESSINGS and P, the mintmark for the Perth Mint.
