A 10-franken piece from the Saar Protectorate, which existed from 1947 to 1956 as a disputed territory separated from Germany by France after the Second World War. In 1957, it was joined to West Germany as the state of Saarland, and is an important industrial and coal mining territory.
This coin is a one-year type and was struck in Paris in an aluminum-bronze alloy. In Gem Mint State condition, it has the original golden color and decent luster, which does not fully show in these low-quality photos. Some faint marks visible are in the plastic of the slab, not on the coin.
