Roman Province - Juadea
"The Fall of Jerusalem" On April 14, 70 CE, Titus surrounded Jerusalem. He allowed pilgrims to enter the city to celebrate Passover but trapped them inside to strain the food and water supplies, preventing their departure. The assault on the walls began on May 10. The third wall fell on May 25, followed by the second wall on May 30. On July 20, Titus launched an attack on the Temple Mount. On August 4, 70 CE, Titus destroyed the Temple. The Jewish fast of Tisha B'Av annually mourns the fall of Jerusalem on this day.
This coin was minted to pay Titus's legions and cover their expenses directly after the fall of Jerusalem.
