Titus Caesar Vespasianus Augustus

"The Capture of Jerusalem" On April 14, 70 CE, Titus surrounded Jerusalem. He allowed pilgrims to enter the city to celebrate Passover, but it was a trap to put pressure on the food and water supplies; he did not let them leave. On May 10, he began the assault on the walls. The third wall fell on May 25. The second wall fell on May 30. On July 20, Titus attacked the Temple Mount. On August 4, 70 CE, Titus destroyed the Temple. The Jewish fast of Tisha B'Av annually mourns the fall of Jerusalem on this day.

Upon arriving in Rome in 71 CE, Titus celebrated a triumph. As depicted on the relief of the Arch of Titus in Rome, Titus entered the city in a quadriga, preceded by an opulent display of captured treasures and prisoners of war, enthusiastically greeted and welcomed by the Roman populace.
