This silver denarius of Hadrian belongs to a series of imperial coins from the Latin area, also issued in bronze and gold, designed to commemorate the emperor's journey to the East and Egypt in AD 129-131. The senile portrait of Hadrian is reproduced with masterly style, as is the Isis with chiton and peplos lying softly on the lectisternium and bearing the canonical sistrum. Singular on the left is the image of the small ibis perched on the capital of a small column in front of the deity.
