The fight with the Nemean lion was the first and most famous of Hercules' labors. The savage lion whose hide was invincible to metal was sent upon the men and fields of Nemea by Juno as a curse on the sond of Phroneus. The lion ranged at will and wreaked widespread slaughter.
(Der Kampf mit dem nemäischen Löwen war der erste und bekannteste Kampf des Herkules. Der wilde Löwe, dessen Haut unverletzbar durch Metall war, wurde von Juno auf die Männer und Felder von Nemea geschickt, als Fluch auf die Söhne von Phroneus.
